Hattie J. Horn
Hattie J. Horn is an awarding winning writer and talented communications and marketing professional. She has extensive experience working with corporate and nonprofit organizations to design and implement creative internal communications strategies and external marketing plans.
As an independent consultant, Hattie provides specialized marketing, communication and promotion services for diverse organizations such as strategic plans, brand management, human resources communication, and technical improvements. She recently teamed with The News Group Net to generate media coverage of the ground breaking on a new refinery and its economic impact to the Louisiana sugar industry. Hattie has also written for Leading Medicine, an award-winning magazine of The Methodist Hospital and for leading global energy company BP.
Hattie has worked in communications for two decades, starting with the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast as a communications specialist and rose to become director of marketing and media, providing direction for the nonprofit organization’s internal and external communications and marketing efforts for charitable giving in the Houston area. Under Hattie’s leadership, key initiatives include designing the first online marketing campaign to generate fundraising donations; increasing donor contributions by strategically targeting ethnic communities and directed community support; and establishing media relationships to increase visibility and position the local United Way as the leading social safety net for community needs.
As regional employee communications manager for Comcast in Houston, Hattie led employee-focused communications programs and processes. Her role included consulting with all levels of the company to develop messages and marketing of internal programs, new product development/marketing and employee benefits to maximize employee satisfaction and customer service performance.
She is a multiple Excalibur Award recipient from the Public Relations Society of America – Houston Chapter for outstanding work in script and brochure writing, annual report, web site evaluation and audio-visual production. She is an active member of IABC/Houston (International Association of Business Communicators), serving as 2009/2010 co-chair of the Houston chapter’s annual Bronze Quill Awards competition and dinner.

Based in the U.K. with strong credentials in Washington, DC, and more than 12 years experience in the field of communications, Kathleen has worked in Israel, Ireland, Italy, the UK, and the US. Her experience spans both the business and the non-profit sectors. From traditional marketing, public/press relations experience to New Media communications.
Over the last 3 years, her primary focus has been on developing and expanding New Media solutions to strengthen existing communications strategies in the non-profit sector. She has set up dynamic content websites along with supporting social networking accounts like Facebook and Twitter. She has also setup and launched internet campaigns incorporating social networking sites and video streaming.
